First UMC Lafayette

Sharing the Love of God through worship, education and outreach.

Rev. Emily Hagan, Pastor

Rev. Emily Hagan is an enthusiastic and faithful disciple of Christ.  She graduated from Saint Paul School of Theology in 2004 with a Master of Divinity degree.  Emily was ordained an elder in the Rocky Mountain Conference of the United Methodist Church in 2007.  She has served as solo pastor in Rye, Colorado; associate pastor in Canon City, Colorado; pastor in Berthoud, Colorado; and now serves as the pastor of First United Methodist Church of Lafayette, Colorado.  Pastor Emily enjoys preaching scriptural, challenging sermons which stay with people throughout the week.  She also enjoys visiting from house to house.  She appreciates Wesleyan heritage and has been teaching Wesleyan History and Wesleyan Distinctives at Local Pastor Licensing School for the past two years.

As a part of education at Saint Paul School of Theology, she had an immersion experience in a Trappist monastery as well as a Korean/China immersion experience.  She has been on many mission trips, including trips to Meru, Kenya; Goodland, Kansas; and Mission, South Dakota.  Because of her immersion education, she has also found travel experiences to be an important part of spiritual formation.  She participated in a “Study, Sabbath, Service” project on Francis of Assisi through Columbia Theological Seminary and co-led an educational trip to Assisi, Italy.  She has also led spiritual pilgrimages to Israel and, most recently, Ireland.

Her husband Erik is a great support to her ministry.  He works as a kindergarten teacher in Longmont, Colorado.  Together they are raising their son Zac, who is four years old.  She has been to all fifty states and enjoys music, reading, and nature.  Emily currently serves on the Board of Ordained Ministry and is chair of the Peaks New Ministry Council.  She also currently serves as the Northern Colorado Circuit Leader.  Emily is passionate about worshiping God, inspiring love, and nurturing discipleship.
